Following a two-stage competition, Grounded has been selected as part of a team led by Haworth Tompkins, to masterplan the Tendring and Colchester Borders Garden Community, a 700-hectare new garden community of around 7,750 new homes east of Colchester in Essex. The project, for Latimer by Clarion Housing Group, will be a model for 21st century sustainable living and regenerative approach to place that is delivered over the next 20-30 years.

Uniquely placed between the masterplanning and engagement teams, Grounded will act as the local voice at the design table, ensuring the masterplan is locally distinctive and shaped by voices of local people. The project team are working towards a hybrid planning application to be delivered in 2024.

The masterplanning team includes Kjellander Sjöberg, Periscope, Arup, Stantec and regenerative experts Exploration Architecture. On the engagement team we are working with Connect, Community 360, CVST and youth engagement specialists Matt + Fiona.
